Unless otherwise noted, all of the information concerning

Spiritual Gifts has been compiled by me, John Lounsberry. It is my desire that you will benefit from this information.

My first introduction to a Biblical teaching on Spiritual Gifts was in a leadership conference of Basic Youth Conflicts on the campus of UCLA in 1971. Since then, I have come across other Bible teachers who have added their insight to my understanding of the subject.

The material presented here is a compilation of over thirty years of study and personal experience. Any place where an author or teacher is quoted directly will be noted with quotation marks and an acknowledgement of their contribution.

I would like to especially thank Jackson Snyder, for allowing us to use his Spiritual Gifts Survey.

MOTIVATIONAL GIFT OF RULING

The Greek word from which the King James version of the Bible gets the term ruler is Kubernesis. The King James rendition of "Ruling", is perhaps a bit strong for some of us. For that reason, I'll list some of the other renditions of various Bible translations.
They are administration, leading, organizing, and governing. My personal preference of the various words, is "organization".
From my observations of spiritual gifts, I think that "Organization" or "Administrator" more accurately describe this particular gift.

It is not uncommon for an Administrator to recognize a problem, but be uncomfortable in forcing himself or herself on others.
However, once it has been made plain that the people in charge would like his or her help, the Administrator puts a plan on paper and starts delegating responsibility. The committee or group reports back to him and he works the whole scheme of the program together. If there is a program or event to take place, he almost instantly has a plan to carry it out. When followed, the plan usually makes it more effective.

There are actually two leadership styles. One organizes things, happenings, or special programs. The other organizes people and will be helpful in helping others to develop personal relationships and learn to develop their leadership skills.

Some people think he takes too much on himself. Sometimes he has to watch that he doesn't overstep his authority and expect those in leadership to follow him. In executing a plan, the Administrator is extremely organized. If he puts together things or events, he will usually organize details and have people carry them out. If he is prone to organize people, he is not a detail person, but relies on others to take care of the little things.

The organizer does not often admit to mistakes. He or she usually does not take time to explain to those under him why he is doing things; he just expects the job to get done. His patience may wear thin when plans are not executed the way that they were laid out.
When things in the church become fragmented, he can harmonize the whole program if given a chance. As soon as a task is completed, he is already working on the next event and starts giving the directions before others have recovered from the last project.
